Do you constantly find yourself standing in your bathroom trying to solve one problem or another? There are so many things that can wrong in this small space that it is enough to make us want to scream. Some days we’re fighting clogged toilets, others we may be asking our toddler about the toy that tried to swim down the drain. We would love to tell you that we can solve every problem that you encounter in your bathroom, but that may be a little more than even we can handle.
However… Here are possible solutions to 4 common bathroom problems:
If the water coming out of your showerhead seems to be more of a trickle than a downpour, you probably have mineral deposits built up on the inside. There is an easy fix to this problem that does not require replacing your showerhead! You can simply fill a quart size plastic bag halfway with vinegar and submerge your showerhead into the bag. Then secure the bag to your showerhead using a rubber band or twist tie and let it soak for at least two hours or overnight. After that, you can remove the bag and you should have a lot more water coming out of your showerhead.
Wobbly Toilet Seat
Don’t you hate it when you go to sit on your toilet and you automatically slide to one side or the other? The best way to fix this, other than tightening the nuts on your toilet seat every other day, is to pick up a toilet seat tightening kit at the hardware store. Inside these kits are a special tool that will allow you to install washers that keep the nuts and bolts in one place on your toilet. No more wobbly toilet seats!
If water is not going down your drain that quickly, the cause is probably a buildup of hair and other gunk. You can purchase an item called Zip-It, which looks like a giant zip tie. A wire hanger will work as well, but then you need to worry about poking holes in your pipes. You push the Zip-It tool down into your drain and pull it back up. Anything that is stuck in the drain should come back up with it. Keep doing this, rinsing off the tool, until everything is out, and then run hot water down your drain.
Water Supply Valve is Dripping
Your first thought when your water supply valve is dripping is to replace it, but you may not need to. You might be able to get away with tightening the packing nut to solve the problem, which is much easier and faster.
These four fast fixes should solve the main small common problems in your bathroom. We’re sorry that we can’t help with some of the others, but some are just beyond our control. Maybe you can install some Bluetooth speakers and take a hot shower to relax, and maybe you can forget about the rest of those problems.
